Physician assistant and mom, Sarah Cawley, shared her incredible story of strength, perseverance, and dedication to family - and now we share her story with you.
Sarah: I like it when it's really quiet, before the rest of the world wakes up, before the kids are out of bed.
I've been through so much that it's a chance to quiet my mind.
You can’t get up early every morning to run or to work out without a motivation, you need a reason to push yourself.
My reason is my family.
I'm Sarah Cawley. I'm a physician assistant and mom, and I'm from Medina, Ohio.
My husband and I have been married for 10 years, and we had our first little girl in 2009, Addison.
Addison: Just to stir it?
Sarah: Two years later, we welcomed Megan. Unfortunately, Megan was born with some pretty serious complications including hydrocephalus, and multiple orthopedic issues. And we didn't know if she'd ever be able to walk.
After we received Megan's diagnosis, I committed to running a half marathon in her honor every year until she could walk, or I couldn't.
Just a few months later, pretty shockingly, I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 32 years old.
You know, when you have kids and you're a mom, you have no choice but to keep going forward. I just decided that it wasn't going to get in the way of my commitment to my daughter.
That little girl is one of the strongest people I have ever met. She definitely inspires me every single day.
So two weeks into my radiation, I ran the half marathon for her.
It was the hardest thing I have ever done putting one foot in front of the other. But I didn't quit. I kept going.
Six months later, Megan took her first steps.
I've learned not to take anything for granted, certainly not your health.
I use RefreshinQ because it's one less complication in my life. It takes the guesswork out of choosing the supplements I want to support my active lifestyle.
I want my kids to be able to look at me and see someone who's stronger now than they were before, and who continues to fight.
I know that every day I have to fight to be stronger for my family. They will always be the reason why I fight and why I never quit.
